About the Winemakers

Boeger Winery has been pioneering unique varietals and artisan blends for over 40 years. The estate was established during the Gold Rush and in 1972 became the first modern day (post-prohibition) winery in El Dorado County. That was when Greg and Sue Boeger purchased the estate.

Greg learned his craft as a youth on his grandfather’s Napa vineyard, Nicholini Winery, founded in 1890. Greg became a pioneer in his own right by experimenting with underdog varietals such as Italian Barbera. Under the Boeger label, their Barbera has garnered hundreds of awards over it’s lifetime and is considered the standard for this varietal across California.

About Blue Angel Cafe & Catering Co.

This neighborhood cafe, tucked away on Ski Run Blvd. has been wowing patrons with fresh, healthy and innovative international cuisine for over 14 years. Owners Jeff and Rosie Cowen originally wanted a little aprés ski place. Their commitment to quality, healthy international foods and keeping the place cozy and friendly has pushed the cafe into the national spotlight recently with mentions in Outside Magazine and being ranked as Lake Tahoe’s No. 1 Local Cafe by USA Today’s 10 Best.

Blue Angels have been in and around Lake Tahoe for quite some time. Heavenly ski resort’s original ski team in the 1950s, 60s and 70s were the Blue Angels. To this day, customers who grew up in a Blue Angel ski uniform come to meet up at the Cafe to reminisce over beer, wine, and amazing food after a killer day on the slopes.
